Search for a TED talk about psychology or a popular book about psychology, find an author/speaker/topic that is interesting to you. Watch the TED talk or read the book. Summarize.
Then, using the Beaman Library databases or Google Scholar, find a peer-reviewed article about a similar topic, written by the same author/speaker listed above. Read the entire article. Summarize the article, and then compare and contrast what is described in the article with what is described in the TED talk or the book. Where there are differences, give your opinion about where you think those discrepancies may come from. Cite specific contents of these sources.
Based on what you have learned from your textbook, which of the “traditional” psychological systems does this author/speaker/topic seem most closely related to? Does this topic seem to belong in any of the contemporary schools of thought listed in your textbook? Explain how you came to this conclusion and cite specific contents within the textbook to justify your decision.
