Prompt: To answer the following, choose a comedy film, preferably one from the suggested list: Annie Hall, Raising Arizona, or The Big Lebowski. Analyze your film selection in light of Deborah Knight’s treatment of tragedy and comedy (chapter 49).

Is the film tragedy, comedy or both? How does it treat the tragic elements of the narrative? Is the central protagonist an outsider? If so, how does this attribute to the comedic and/or tragic elements of the film? Does it elicit pity or fear – if so, how? Does the film have any ethical value?
