The assessment evaluates students' abilities with the techniques taught in the module, in particular in understanding the main phases of software engineering (SE) life cycle and the different methodologies used in SE. In addition, the assessment will evaluate the students' ability to explore different technological tools used during the phases of SE life cycles, the ethical issues related to SE, and perform the system analysis and design modelling according to a given case study.
The overall coursework is split-up into two deliverables (D1 and D2). (Please note that D1 and D2 require students to work individually and submit documentation report).
D1: SE life cycle and its methodology and gathering the requirements for an application (50%).
Part 1 (25%):

  • Explore the main phases of SE life cycle for the system described in the case study.
  • Explore different SE methodologies and discuss its advantages and when they can be applied.
  • Explore the different technological tools that can be used in each life cycle phase for this system (described in the case study).
