For this project, you will create a PowerPoint presentation that integrates anatomy with clinical and anesthetic applications.
Begin by reviewing the basic anatomy of a selected organ or region, which may include both gross and microscopic anatomy. You will then connect this anatomical foundation to clinical relevance, such as anesthetic techniques or disease processes.
Examples of acceptable topics include:
- The spinal cord with an emphasis on spinal anesthesia
- Peripheral nerves and associated regional nerve blocks
- A specific disease or condition, provided that both the anatomy and clinical aspects are thoroughly reviewed
If you have a particular interest in a disease or anatomical region, you may choose that topic as long as it includes both anatomical review and clinical application.
In the clinical portion of your presentation, address the following:
- Etiology
- Public health relevance
- Pathophysiology
- Clinical presentation
- Signs and symptoms
- Treatment options
- Outcomes and prognosis
An honors-level presentation should consist of approximately 40 content-rich slides. Previous students have produced excellent work using this structure, and you are encouraged to be thorough, organized, and visually clear.
