OVERVIEW
There are several statistical tests that can be applied to categorical data and or
percentages/proportions. These types of tests can be applied to prevalence and incidence of
diseases/disorders and are fairly common in public health research. A more advanced procedure
but one that is frequently employed in understanding how effective treatment/interventions are is
survival analysis.
INSTRUCTIONS
Using SPSS the student will perform the following procedures and learn how to interpret and
apply the output generated by the procedures:
 Chi Square Goodness of Fit – for various proportions
 Kruskal-Wallis Test
 Survival Analysis
