Seletar Airport is an airport located in the Northeastern part of Singapore. While Changi Airport is its largest and main civilian airport, Seletar Airport primarily caters to general aviation, private jets, business aviation, and regional turboprop flights.
Seletar Airport has become the gateway for many private and corporate aircraft. When a rich businessman or a celebrity wants to avoid public attention or for greater security, they might choose to fly a private jet into this airport instead. To service these high profile clients, the airport offered private hangars, VIP lounges, secure parking areas, and more bespoke services.
cSeletar does have some commercial flights as well, primarily turboprop aircraft that fly to other smaller regional airports. These would use a small terminal towards the eastern side of the airport. Although not as busy as Changi, many members of the public, usually passengers and their families, would come to the terminal using private or public transport.
The airport also houses many private and corporate aircraft, in contrast to Changi Airport that caters mainly to larger airlines. They offer the services such as refuelling, aircraft maintenance, engine repairs, airframe service, catering, and others needed to operate private or chartered flights. As such, it houses several famous aviation companies in an aerospace park located next door, such as Rolls Royce and Airbus, which operates facilities for repairing engines, aircraft parts, and so on. It also has sensitive facilities such as a petrol tank farm and a data centre that the airport’s operations and the safety of the flights using its runway are dependent upon.
Every day, thousands of workers would enter its fenced-up premises through several secure gates. They worked in the different industries and facilities upon which Seletar Airport is dependent. Major roads also allowed vehicles to enter through security checkpoints to enter the airport.
Various aviation training schools are also located there, including the Singapore Youth Flying Club. Every day, many students would come into the campus on the airport for pilot training, courses on aircraft engineering, and other aviation related courses.
