In this assessment, you will analyze epidemiologic trends to identify populations
most at risk for neuropsychiatric disorders and strategies to prevent these
disorders across the lifespan.
Use the topic approved by your instructor in Week 1 for this summative

Imagine you are a nurse practitioner in a large urban hospital. You have been
asked to prepare a presentation for a group of nursing students who are studying
epidemiology and trends in mental illness.
Prepare a no more than 12-slide Table Point presentation inclusive of Title and
Reference slides that includes the following information:
(a) Definition
(b) Lifetime prevalence
(c) Prevalence by age and gender
(d) Cultural considerations when making this diagnosis.
(e )Sociocultural considerations when making this diagnosis, including
culture-bound syndromes when assessing trends and patterns (e.g.,
dissociative identity disorder may be diagnosed more often in people and
cultures that normalize e.g., “possession”)
(F)Populations at risk (e.g., individuals who were known to have had prenatal
exposure to influenza have higher rates of schizophrenia).
Use websites (e.g., NAMI, NIMH, SAMHSA), your course textbooks, and at least
1 additional current peer-reviewed article to inform your Table Point
presentation.
The Table should stand alone without Notes Pages.
