Prompt:

When considering the information you learned about early brain development, was there anything that startled you or gave you cause for concern when considering technology, the overall pace of life or balance/lack of balance, and child development? We know that children being raised in the Digital Age need to be familiar with technology and need to understand how to use it to grow to be productive, effective, and functioning members of society. However, knowing what the research has demonstrated with regard to brain development in early childhood, what can individuals do to ensure that technology enhances the growth and development of children? How can individuals create and maintain a balance between human interaction, physical activity, and exposure to/use of technology? Is that even possible? Do children being raised today have adequate opportunities for exploration and creativity? Is technology enhancing the growth and development of children, or is it potentially overshadowing other experiences that are needed to ensure appropriate, optimal, and healthy development? Thoughts?
