Movie Test over Relationships
Watch the movie below and answer the questions
“Mirror has two faces”
Answer these questions in relation to the characters played by Barbara Streisand and Jeff Bridges:
1. Evaluate the Love styles at work in the relationship between Rose and Gregory. What two or three do you think defines them best? Why? Support your conclusion with examples from the film.
2. Are there major turning points in the relationship? Identify these. Do these turning points lead to escalation or de-escalation of the relationship? Explain.
3. In the beginning of the movie, do the two main characters have an equitable relationship? Discuss the “relational currencies” each brings to the friendship. As the relationship moves through different phases, does the equity/inequity and the relationship currencies each brings change? Explain. Do you think there is a difference in the relational currencies that they value?
4. The Break-up, while not a “textbook case” , has some key elements of the account making sequence. Using the account making sequence, compare how both rose and Gregory “process” the break in the relationship.
5. Look back over your answers. Do you believe the odds are in favor of or against the long-term success of this relationship, based on your analysis? Explain.
