HURS205 – Organizational Behavior & Leadership Leadership Report Directions and Rubric

Course Outcome

• Examine various leadership theories, characteristics, competencies, and their impact on professional relationships

Directions

Part 1

Evaluate the characteristics and attitudes of various leadership theories by filling out the chart. For each theory, provide a brief description that will differentiate it from the others. Briefly state how the theory can be applied to the modern development of leadership skills. Be sure to cite your sources that do not come from the lecture.

Part 2

Evaluate the characteristics and competencies of exceptional leaders and the impact of their characteristics on professional relationships by filling out the chart. List five additional characteristics that are different from the ones that are already listed and complete the chart for them as well. Be sure to cite your sources that do not come from the lecture.

Part 3

Develop a short essay of at least 500 words that addresses the following:

• Discuss which of the characteristics/competencies of leaders that you currently possess.
• Provide examples of how you have applied these competencies in your personal and/or professional life to show leadership.
• Discuss at least one of the competencies that you would like to develop further and a plan for how you can increase your level of competency for this characteristic.
  • Explain how your further development in this area will help you to succeed in your leadership ability.
