Federal Sentencing Penalties and State Sentencing Penalties Discussion
It is not uncommon for the federal sentencing penalties to be different from different state sentencing penalties for the same offense. One example is the difference in penalties for drug offenses.

In addition to finding another law where there is a distinction between the punishment between Nevada's law and the federal law, you are also tasked with writing a critical thinking response in regards to whether you agree with there being different penalties if one is convicted in federal court than in a state court. Do you think the penalties should be more uniform? Why or why not? What are the pros or cons to having different penalties? Does the nature of the offense matter?
