Each student will select, make an appointment with, and interview a leader within their community on leadership. The leader could be a school, church, family, political, or community leader. This person should be respected and viewed as an effective and exemplary leader in the community. Notify the person that the interview fulfills a class course requirement, and the written paper will be shared with your instructor. You may interview in person or on the phone (interviews should not be done via email). You will write a 2-3 page paper (double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font) on the discussion applying concepts you learned from class readings and submit that in D2L. Suggested questions and content for the interview include (you can ask other questions about the leadership traits or characteristics) : • Personal and work experience background: Ask questions about their personal, educational, and work history. You can also ask if they can point to anything in their personal, academic, and work history that prepared them for leadership. • What has been your most significant influence as a leader? Why? • What strengths do you believe you have as a leader? Weaknesses? • What traits and behaviors are critical for being a successful leader today? • What are the top three challenges facing leaders today?
