Developing a Culture of Evidence-Based Practice Assignment Paper

Evidence based practice has become the most important aspect in healthcare as it helps in streamlining service delivery. Evidence based practices form part of the approaches used to gather, manage and disseminate information. Healthcare information can be disseminated in various ways to help practitioners focus on specific areas of patient needs (Baker et al., 2021).  Some common strategies for disseminating information include the use of PowerPoint, peer reviewed journals as well as oral podium presentations.

The two strategies that I will be inclined to use include the use of peer reviewed journals and oral presentations. Oral presentations are important in that they are very effective when delivering the information to a specific target audience. Oral presentations include seminars where the audience has an opportunity to seek clarifications or certain issues. Peer reviewed journals are also an important strategy in that they are generally considered to be credible given that it is prepared and reviewed by experts. Also, the contents of peer reviewed journals are trustworthy, accurate and scientifically valid, hence, accepted by many people (Bauchner, Fontanarosa & Golub, 2020). The dissemination strategies that I am least inclined to use are PowerPoint presentations and posters. These two strategies are not effective in communicating evidence based practices in that they have particularly scanty information hence, the audience may not comprehend the information as appropriate. These strategies are unlike peer-reviewed journals that alongside other things give an overview of weaknesses and strengths of the information presented.

One barrier in the presentation of EBP through the use of oral presentations includes oratory inefficiencies as well as fear, anxiety and lack of eye contact (van Ginkel et al., 2019). Oral presentations require high level of skills to ensure that the information is disseminated appropriately. Also, the use of peer review journals can be time consuming. To overcome these barriers, it is important to prepare adequately as well as learn the type of audience to overcome such issues as anxiety and fear.

To Prepare:

Review the Resources and reflect on the various strategies presented throughout the course that may be helpful in disseminating effective and widely cited EBP.
This may include: unit-level or organizational-level presentations, poster presentations, and podium presentations at organizational, local, regional, state, and national levels, as well as publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Reflect on which type of dissemination strategy you might use to communicate EBP.

*****Post at least two dissemination strategies you would be most inclined to use and explain why. Explain which dissemination strategies you would be least inclined to use and explain why. Identify at least two barriers you might encounter when using the dissemination strategies you are most inclined to use. Be specific and provide examples. Explain how you might overcome the barriers you identified.
