Demonstrate a critical awareness of the value of management and leadership skills in professional practice settings; Develop the ability to understand and analyse the organisational and managerial context as it relates to the delivery of services and to professional practice within dynamic changing environments in the health and social care field. Consider the relevance of ethical decision making in relation to the management and leadership of others. Develop awareness of current trends in the management of health and social care setting in order to inform future personal and professional development. Students must form a group of 3-5 people. Students must present case study on a management and leadership issue in HSC setting. Student must show effective teamwork and leadership throughout the course of the module, as they prepare their assessment submission. Working in light of individual PDPs is essential for success in the assessment. The students will be marked as a group.

Marking criteria and structure of the assessment:

Present a management and leadership issue in a relevant health and social care setting, and apply management and leadership theory to understand, explain, and suggest solutions 20% Provide contextual analysis of the case study, using relevant sector data, legislation, policy, and guidelines 20% Apply scholarship, research and referencing 20% Evidence effective teamwork and development of management, leadership, personal and professional skills, as they pertain to individual PDPs 40% (individual students shall keep a personal record of their Personal and Professional development on the activities of the module including their group work. This shall be assessed by their tutor.
