Hurricane Zelda descended with a vengeance on the fictional state of Louisissippi. Due to the possible negligence of the state’s civil engincers, or possibly just natural aging, the levecs didn”t hold, and the Great River overflowed its banks, causing massive flooding and destruction. Many
people were killed, and thousands lost their homes and businesses
In the neighboring state of Floribama, the partners at DC&H, LLP, an experienced class action law firm, saw a great opportunity. DC&H began taking out ads in Louisissippi, inviting victims
of the hurricane to join in a class action suit against the state of Louisissippi. The ads encouraged Louisissippians to contact DC&cH to join the class.
Eventually, DC&H went before the US District Court for the District of Louisissippi to certify
the class. Judge Everett Sketchy was assigned to the case. Judge Sketchy’s wife owns the
Down& Out Insurance Company, specializing in homeowner’s insurance, but the judge is not
